Supershow Report

For years
it's been called The Supershow. Show and Supershow
are used interchangeably; the Toronto Motorcycle Supershow
is North America's largest consumer motorcycle show.
It was established in 1976 and has earned the nickname
“The big one by the airport” because of
its location near Pearson International Airport and
the fact that parking is FREE. Presented by Mantha
Insurance and produced by Bar Hodgson Productions
Ltd., the 425,000 sq. ft. Supershow is dedicated to
every motorcycle enthusiast, showcasing all things
motorcycle in seven halls of the Toronto International
Centre at 6900 Airport Road, Mississauga.
The January
2009 Toronto Motorcycle Supershow held at the International
Centre drew its usual crowd of leather and tattoo-uniformed
motorcycle worshippers and shoppers looking for that
special bargain. And there certainly were bargains
to be had – the impending Canadian recession
and sluggish economy was evident in merchandise pricing
this year. I've never seen chaps at $35 CDN in my
life. Not even 27 years ago, when I began riding,
could one buy a pair of leather riding chaps for $35.
And if you stuck around 'til the end of the night
when vendors were preparing to go home, deals could
be had on gloves, belts and other motorcycle accessories.
Bad times for the economy, good times for a buyer
looking for a bargain. The next spring Supershow will
be held April 4 & 5, 2009.
