Ideas for Left BK Amputees

Roadgypsy's Mods:

1. After attaching a sidecar, remove shifter.

 

2. Relocate shifter to right side of motorcycle. A custom welded rod was created to move the linkage (see pic #1). Shifting is now inverse: 1st is up, the rest are down. (similar to ATV)

3. Additionally, I had an idea for a makeshift reverse, which came to fruition through a friend of mine. He used a winch motor. He covered the winch wheel with coarse mesh steel (for grip). Mounting the winch wheel to the sidecar frame near the sidecar wheel, when deployed, the winch wheel presses against the sidecar wheel and begins to turn it slowly. This has been of great benefit to me, for it aids me in backing-up my bike and sidecar, with less stress on my right leg.

In the above photo, you can see the rear brake pedal, the gearshift, as well as the pedal for deploying my "reverse" aid.
