2008 Orillia Scottish Festival

Another event the Port of Orillia hosts is the Scottish Festival. I enjoy listening to pipe music, and they come from all over to compete in pipe and drum competitions, including highland dancing. I love looking at all the beautiful kilts/costumes. And - it is true that the men do not wear panties under 'em skirts...how do I know this? I attended a party one time - a wild party, where the families ended up having a food fight and the Scottish relative and Canadian bagpipe champion that greatly resembled Kiefer Sutherland played rock and roll on his bagpipe proudly obliged my request to see if it was true. It most certainly is.

I met this guy, Larry, at Haines Junction, Alaska. I affectionately named him "Captain Hook". He thought I had balls, riding to Alaska from Ontario, Canada. I thought he had balls riding with no hands...

Christmas in June 2008

Each Year, the Port of Orillia hosts "Christmas in June", where each boat moored decorates their boat in Christmas theme. At night, it looks beautiful, with all the lights reflecting off the water. Unfortunately, this year, the night light show was rained out. Had a great thunderstorm. But, I captured a few morning shots on Sunday, June 22. Some of the play on words used to name the boats were interesting too.
